The shift indicator in my truck is dim compared to the message center. I noticed a couple times that it has went almost black. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just a bulb? thanks

He repairs instrument clusters. They do the lamps as well as the stepper motors. Even if he doesn't do the gear indicator, he should know where to ask.
I've noticed that my headlights, as well as dash lights, are dim for a few minutes after startup until about the time the trans temp gets to 73* and then everything brightens up all at once.
That's the intake heater and glow plugs operating, causing the voltage to drop. I'd have the batteries tested as my trucks don't have a very noticeable dimness to the lamps during warmup.
What is this special policy you are referring to? My cluster works fine except for this dim light thing...is there a known cluster problem that they'll replace under?? (I'm at about 93k miles.....)
It lasts about 2 miles & always brightens up when I'm at the same point on the highway, doesn't matter if I let the truck warm up for 20 minutes, 10 minutes or just get in, start & go. My '04 F-350 did the exact same thing at the exact same place.....for the 3 years I had it. Weird
Tell me about it
It's about 1/2 mile past the "weather line". There's a line across the highway, it'll be raining on one side of the line but dry as can be on the other
