Will there be a noticeably louder tone having stacks vs. a 4" straight pipe turbo back? What about performance gains-shorter length of pipe for exhaust flow to exit..?

stacks are loud! two friends of mine have stacks...one has a 6.5 and the other has a furd 7.3. You can't escape the noise in the cab because its exiting right there and drones constantly (I know those motors are louder like apples/oranges but still I think it would be the same principle. I have mine straight piped and sounds almost stock in the cab if I drive it easily/normal with windows up...I can hear a slight rumble when I get on it, and the LBZ HISS is faint at WOT

the hiss im talking about is that ridiculously loud shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! that comes out when you get it over 15-20 psi.

I will tell you that the hiss you are talking about is extremely loud with a stack kit. When you realy come into the go pedl it is rediculous loud This is on an LBZ I am talking about I have put one on a friends truck for him.

several of my feinds have the straight pipes and LOVE them, good sound and it doesnt hinder the storage of the bed. Thats why I bought a truck to haul!

I just put a 5" stack on this week, and had a 4" straight pipe before. The stack's drone is pretty bad about 1600 rpm, but you can keep it down if you stay out of it. If you want people to know you're there, just lay into it and it'll wake thier world up!!!

I would like to see a picture of that! I think it would be cool at the strip too and keep the weight down. Can you e-mail me some pics??? Where you got the parts and pieces would be nice too:D

I had a 4'' turbo back straight pipe in front of the rear tire and just switched to a single 6'' mitered stack. In cab noise level is about the same but the low rpm droan is worse and goes from about 1700-2000 rpms now instead of just at 1600 before. You will learn to drive around it though, except from about 65-75 mph you can't escape it. I'm going to be ordering one of those internal mufflers from black cloud diesel that is supposed to elimibate the droan so we'll see how that works. But enough negatives, stacks are just bad@$$, sound incredible and makes your truck stand out.

I just like the look of dual stacks but I'm worried that you won't be able to flow as much smoke out of the far one...?

I have had all different setups. I have had a full exhaust that was straight piped, a single 5" stack that was all striaght piped, and now a 5" straight piped exhaust that dumps out in front of my passenger side tire. I like the "dump of deat" or import fogger as i call it the best. The stack had way too much drone in the cab. The out the side dump is way louder outside, but not in the cab. Plus it hoses smoke on whoever is losing. Parts cost would be"
$40 for a 90* elbow
$5 for SS band clamp
$2 for exhaust hanger.
cheap and easy just the way i like em!

I actully found a full 4" exhaust the fire department cut off of a truck that was in a wreck. Its pretty easy 1, 90 2, 45s and a tip. the guys at our dyno day loved it.
